As an award-winning content company we have been commissioned to produce four more podcast series for Audible, growing our relationship with Amazon’s audio entertainment service.
The new commissions cover subjects ranging from the phenomenon of mass hysteria, to cutting-edge dinosaur research, toxic teachings and a celebration of speedway. All four series will be available free to Audible members at www.audible.co.uk/audioshows.
This new commission follows the success of earlier Audible Originals including:
- Five-part series The Appliance of Science (Financial Times: “Quirky, humorous and mercifully free of jargon”; The Guardian: “The excitement of the Science Museum’s curators is infectious as they share their expertise, bringing the ideas and inventions of the incurably curious to life”; Buzzfeed: “Perfect for a weekend train journey”), in which best-selling author Bill Bryson teamed up with The Science Museum to take listeners through some of the Museum’s lesser known inventions and discoveries.
- Recently-launched five-part series Get Happy, in which presenters Michelle Gielan and Oliver Burkeman look at the science of happiness and explore ways, backed up by scientific evidence, to become truly happier.
Adam Uytman, Head of Content said: “We are thrilled to be growing our relationship with Audible. Wisebuddah has expanded substantially over the past year in response to the boom in demand for audio-on-demand content, bringing in even more fantastic speech production talent into our team. Our work with Audible exemplifies what we do best – bringing high quality content to as wide an audience as possible.”
Our projects in production include A Grown-Up Guide to Dinosaurs, a six-part series for all the family looking at cutting-edge dinosaur research and how far it’s come. Hysteria!, also a six-part series, explores several bizarre cases of mass hysteria and asks if they really can be put down to mass psychogenic illness. The five-part series Speedway (working title) uncovers what happened to the once much-loved but now largely forgotten sport of Speedway racing. Unlearn (working title), also a five-part series, unpicks toxic teachings around subjects such as consent and mental health.
The series were commissioned by Kent DePinto. Alice Lloyd and Clare Chadburn are the Executive Producers for Wisebuddah.
Wisebuddah was crowned Production Company of the Year 2018 at the Audio Production Awards last month.
